Be the Solution to Soil Pollution campaign for World Soil Day 2018 aims to raise awareness and call people to Stop Soil Pollution.
World Soil Day was celebrated at ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli in collaboration with State Department of Agriculture, Tumakuru on 5th December 2018. About 80 farmers, KVK Scientists, officials from Agriculture department were participated in the event. This programme was inaugurated by Shri. Huchhaiah, Member, Zilla Panchayat Tumakuru. Dr. Kenge gowda ADA Tumakuru taluk who gave information and statistical data on soil degradation and government schemes for improving the soil productivity. Dr. N. Loganandhan Head KVK Hirehalli spoke during the programme and enlightened on importance of soil microbes in maintaining the soil health and productivity and KVK products technologies. Shri. Anand kumar, Programme coordinator, Aviskar NGO elaborated on the role of farmers in maintaining the soil health and improving the productivity of crops by applying balanced nutrition and Soil and water conservation. Dr. P R Ramesh Soil Scientist delivered the lecture on Soil Health Management and he also explained the importance of soil testing. Later in the programme Soil health cards were distributed to selected farmers of the district. Mr. Sridhar BTM, ATMA welcomed all the dignitaries and the farmers to the World Soil Day Celebration. Smt. Asha, Agricultural officer coordinated the whole programme.
