ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune and BSKKV, Dapoli jointly organized a two day-long Workshop-cum-Training on“Cluster Front Line Demonstrations on Pulses and Oilseeds” for 45 KVKs of Maharashtra from 24 November - 2018.
Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension0, in his inaugural address, focused on extension action research, adopting right methodology, reducing technological gap, linking cluster frontline demonstrations with nutritional security and getting best technologies from SAUs/ICAR institutes, etc. He also discussed about the convergence of Krishi Vigyan Kendras with other ministries in terms of financial support. He emphasized o the need for KVK to focus on processing, value addition and marketing through organized farmers.
Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune emphasized on organizing field day at appropriate time for all the line departments, research institutions and nearby farmers to further discuss the large scale adoption and highlighted the significance of following cluster and holistic approach.
Dr. K.D. Kokate, Ex-DDG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR emphasized on the focus for identifying priorities, bridging the technological gaps in the district, adoption of post-harvest management practices in pulses, availability of critical inputs at right time and maintaining daily diary.
The workshop also reviewed the Farmer FIRST Project of 3 centres (MPKV, Rahuri; Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh and Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari).
The workshop was attended by 75 heads, scientists and SMSs of 45 Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
