WASHINGTON AGROFORESTRY LEADERS VISIT PAU

January 12, 2017…. A 25 member delegation comprising foresters, government agency personnel, farmers and livestock producers from the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation (AgForestry) visited Punjab Agricultural University to learn about the university’s role in green revolution and its current research focus with respect to sustainable agricultural development. While interacting with senior PAU scientists, Ag Forestry Programme Director, Matt Kloes appreciated the university’s research focus on conservation agriculture and revealed that similar efforts form a part of current US agricultural research.  AgForestry provides leadership development programmes for adults, offering hands-on learning experiences to impart skills required for driving natural resource and industrial growth, sustainability and economic viability.

Earlier, Dr M.S. Gill, Director Research, welcomed the delegates followed by a presentation on PAU research and extension activities, given by Additional Director of Research, Dr Saravjeet Singh. The group later paid a visit to the Crop Museum to learn about the sowing patterns, climatic and soil requirements of popular crops sown in Punjab.
