TN begins exporting bananas to Italy
The first consignment of 21 tonnes of banana harvested from various parts of the Tamil Nadu was flagged off to Italy on 31st October 2018. To facilitate exports, farmers followed the scientific and logistic protocol developed by the ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana. And, this had helped the farmers increase their profit by ₹ 3 a kg. ICAR-NRCB along with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, had developed a system where the harvested banana was carried in a cable conveyor system to eliminate human intervention, cleaned, and packed to specification to meet the Italian market requirement. राधा मोहन सिंह Radha Mohan Singh Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Krishna Raj Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, India Press Information Bureau - PIB, Government of India DD KisanThe first consignment of 21 tonnes of banana was harvested from various parts of the State
