The much awaited action in Western Ghats to start from today While Chennai had a close miss with yesterday night storms which came upto northern boundary

Lets see tonight or tomorrow early morning whether we fall in the path of storms.
I am posting the same that i posted yesterday as the westerlies strengthen and offshore trough forms and gets firm off Kerala-Maharashtra coast, between 16-20 of September for atleast three days there is chance of heavy rains in Nilgiris, Valparai region, Kanyakumari region, Nellai region of Shencottah, Coutrallam, Papanasam dam, Periyar belt around Theni district, Kodaikanal belt will all get rains. Sathyamangalam belt in Erode too will get heavy rains.

My native town Kanyakumari is going to see heaviest rains of the season.

Mumbai might see heavy rains on 18/19 some flooding too might happen there.

The nearby areas in Ghats such as Pollachi belt, Udumalaipet, Palani will also get rains. Areas in Tiruppur, Erode, Coimbatore city belt and many near by locations will get rains too. salem, madurai, karur, virudhunagar all might one day moderate rains. Krishangiri, Vellore belt will see convective rains.

Cauvery catchment areas in Karnataka in kodagu district such as Bhagamandala will also be battered so will wayanad in Kerala which is catchment area of Kabini dam

The heaviest rains in Tamil Nadu mountain belt will happen on 17-18 so drive safely if you are planning to visit any of the hill stations in Tamil Nadu or Kerala (munnar) or Karnataka (Kodagu).

All dam inflows in the mountains are going to see spike in inflows from the next 3 day rains.

Regarding rainfall for chennai around Ind-Aus match. Its still not clear on how the night will turn out. We have too see if the day is cloudy or hot blazing sun. If its cloudy rains happen at late night or early morning.
