Two Ph.D. Agrometeorology Students BAG National Fellowships

Ludhiana April 11 :

            Ms Harleen Kaur, a Ph.D scholar in the School of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, has been awarded Maulana Azad National Fellowship for conducting research during her Ph.D programme. The award includes an amount of Rs 25,000/- per month till the completion of her degree. She is conducting research on “Assessment and management of climate variability impact on evapo-transpiration and water productivity of maize in different agro-climatic regions of Punjab”. She is pursuing her Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr P. K. Kingra, Professor of Agricultural Meteorology.

            Ms Jaspinder Kaur, another Ph.D scholar in the School of Climate Change Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, has been awarded Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for conducting research during her Ph.D programme. The award includes an amount of Rs 25,000/- per month till the completion of her degree. She is conducting research on “Evaluation of different adaptation strategies in rice (oryza sativa L.) by crop modelling under different futuristic climate change scenarios”. She is pursuing her Ph.D  under the guidance of Dr K K Gill, Assistant Agrometeorologist.

            Dr Neelam Grewal, Dean Postgraduate Studies; Dr H.S. Dhaliwal, Dean, College of Agriculture and Dr L.K. Dhaliwal, Director, School of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, congratulated the students and their advisors for the achievement.
