PAU ORGANIZES MINI FARM WOMEN FAIR
LUDHIANA, MARCH 14:
The College of Home Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a mini farm women fair in the village Sarabha under the programme “Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE).” The fair was a part of the culmination of eight-week programme, in which activities such as dhiyan di lohri, save environment, drinking water testing camp, rally on anti-drug addiction and awareness about different academic programmes of PAU were organized. As many as 28 students of B.Sc (Hons.) Home Science final year adopted 56 farm families during the programme and demonstrated technologies related to food and nutrition, apparel and textile science, human development and family resource management.
The Chief Guest, Dr G.K. Sangha, Dean, College of Home Science, PAU, motivated the women to come forward, actively participate in agricultural development and adopt allied income generation activities.
Dr Ranjit Singh, an animal science expert, delivered a lecture on animal health and their management.
Dr Kulbir Singh, Professor, Vegetable Science, highlighted the importance of kitchen gardening.
The Course Incharge, Dr Sukhjeet Kaur, Professor, Extension Education and Communication Management, informed about the activities, conducted by the PAU in the village during this programme. The PAU publications worth Rs 2,400/- were purchased by farm women in the fair.
Mrs Navdeep Kaur, a farm woman, thanked the university teachers and the students for adopting their village for RAWE programme. She also shared that homemakers have learnt lots of new things from the students.
