PAU INKS MoA WITH NABHA FIRM FOR PADDY STRAW MANAGEMENT

LUDHIANA, SEPTEMBER 20:

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) inked a pact with Syan Agro Industry, Nabha, today under which the university has offered non-exclusive rights to the company to manufacture and sell “PAU Cutter-cum-Spreader” technology, based on the technology developed by PAU. Dr Navtej Singh Bains, Director of Research, PAU, and Mr Baljinder Singh, Managing Director, Syan Agro Industry, signed the memorandum of agreement (MoA). Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, was present at MoA signing ceremony.

Dr Bains said the University in engaged in research and development of new machines in agriculture. This two-way cooperation will go a long way in providing farmers with the low cost technology, he added.

Dr Jasvir Singh Gill, Assistant Agronomist, said, “PAU Cutter-cum-Spreader is a versatile machine which is helpful in managing paddy straw and has farmers’ as well as manufacturers’ acceptability.” It is used for chopping and uniform spreading of paddy straw after combine harvesting, he added.

Dr S.S. Chahal, Adjunct Professor, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, PAU, said the University has inked 54 MoAs for commercialization of crop varieties/hybrids, technologies, bio-pesticides, etc.

Present on the occasion were Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education; Dr K.S. Thind, Additional Director of Research (Crop Improvement); Dr Thakur Singh, Head, Agronomy; and Dr Manjeet Singh, Head, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering.
