PUNJAB AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITYPAU HOLDS TRAINING PROGRAMME ON POPULARIZATION OF CANOLA OILLUDHIANA, MARCH 21:The Department of Processing and Food Engineering in collaboration with Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a one-day training programme on “Popularization of Canola Oil” for the benefit of agro processing complex entrepreneurs. Dr Surinder Sandhu, Incharge, Oilseeds Section, discussed about the newly developed varieties of canola seed and quality of its oil in comparison with other edible oils.Dr A.K.Singh, Head, Processing and Food Engineering, discussed the health benefits of canola oil.Dr Varinder Sardana, an expert of oilseeds, delivered a lecture on agronomic practices for canola.Dr Tarsem Chand, Coordinator of the programme, emphasised the need for installing oil expelling units in all the established agro-processing complexes. He also stressed on popularization of canola oil.
