Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said that the Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (RSS) aimed at benefiting farmers.
Participating in the RSS meeting held here on Wednesday, Srinivas Reddy said that the farmers having land and actively participating in the farming would be made part of the RSS. Alleging that the previous rulers were responsible for the collapse of the farming sector, he said that it had resulted in suicide of farmers. “All the problems of farmers would be addressed by the Rythu Samanvaya Samithi. One extension officer is being appointed for every 5,000 acres and a building for farmers’ meetings will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 15 lakh, seeds and fertilisers would be made available there. RSS were established in 10,733 revenue villages and 577 mandals,” he said.
Harish Rao said every farmer would be extended financial assistance of Rs. 8,000 for two crops a year from the next year. Coming down heavily against the proposed Rytu Rakhana Samithi by the Congress, he said that they would harm the farmers’ interests.
