The 55th Alumni meet of the College of Agriculture, PAU, opened to great start with the college alumni converging from across the globe to participate in the two day event. The inaugural session witnessed Dr Dev Raj Bhumla, oldest alumnus of the college and chairman of the session, pay tributes to the departed souls of Dr G.S. Kalkat, Former Vice Chancellor, PAU and Former Chairman, Punjab State Farmers Commission, Dr P.S. Lamba, Former Vice Chancellor, Hissar Agricultural University and Dr H.R. Kalia, Founder Vice Chancellor, CSK HPKV, Palampur. Dr B.S. Dhillon, Vice Chancellor, PAU and Patron of the association, while paying tributes to the departed Dr D.S. Athwal, Senior Vice President of Programs, Winrock International, USA, spoke at length about his iconic body of work and service to the agricultural fraternity. Mrs Gurdev Athwal, wife of Dr Athwal, also made it to the event from USA and was honoured by the dignitaries on the dais. Dr D.R. Bhumbla also released the AGALUMNUS; the Alumni Association’s Publication followed by the release of “Sadi Ton Baad”, by Prof. Dr Hafiz Qayyum and “Reviving Agricultural Growth” by Dr M.S. Bajwa, Former Director of Research, PAU. The veteran scientist later felicitated the college alumni, elevated to coveted positions in their organizations. Dr sardara Singh Johal, Chancellor, Central University of Punjab also honoured alumni appointed to coveted positions at PAU. The session also saw Dr Khem Singh Gill, and Dr Manjit Singh Kang, Former Vice Chancellors, PAU honour alumni of the college who brought laurels to the college. Later Dr A.S. Nanda, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU presented mementos to alumni for excellence in various activities. Dr Milkah Singh Aulakh, Former VC, MSKJ University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda, Dr N.S. Malhi, Former VC, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, Dr amarinder Singh Bawa, Former Director, DRDO, Dr B.S. Dhillon, VC, PAU, and Dr S.S. Gosal, Member Board of Management honoured alumni  for outstanding contributions in different fields.

Earlier, Dr S.S. Kukal, Dean, College of Agriculture, PAU, accorded a formal welcome to the guests and a welcome poem was read out by Dr Gurdev Singh Sandhu. Dr Ranjit Singh Tambar, Former ADC, PAU, Dr Sarjit Singh Gill and Dr Balwinder Singh Butahri regaled the audience with their wit and humour through poems. The alumni later converged near the flag post for group photograph. In the afternoon session, a poetic symposium was organized with themes based on environment conservation, scientific agriculture and curtailing expenditure on social functions. Dr M.S. Tiwana, Former Dean, College of Agriculture was the Chief Guest of the event. This session also included honouring of students excelling in academics, NCC, NSS, Sports and Cultural Activities by Dr G.S. Chahal, Dr D.S. Cheema Former Deans, COA, Dr D.K Uppal, Former Director, NHB, Dr Darshan Singh, Former Dean PGS, PAU, Dr Ramesh Kumar, Former Director, Directorate of Floriculture Research, ICAR and Dr J.S. Bains, Director of Agriculture, Punjab. The programme concluded with a colourful cultural programme, spiced up by Dr Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, Head Department of Extension Education, PAU.
