PAU STUDENT GETS THIRD BEST THESIS AWARD
LUDHIANA, DECEMBER 26:
Mr Prasun Karmakar, an M.Sc. student of the Department of Entomology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has bagged the “Third Best Thesis Award” at the National Symposium on “Impact of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Good Plant Protection Practices for Crop Productivity,” organized by the Association for Advancement in Plant Protection at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), Kalyani (West Bengal) from December 22-23, 2016. The award consists of a medallion, certificate and a cash prize of Rs 2,000/-. The Shashya Suraksha Best M.Sc. Thesis Award is given by the Association every year to recognize the quality and superior research by post-graduate students in the area of Plant Protection. Prasun Karmakar did his M.Sc. under the guidance of Dr P.S. Shera, Assistant Entomologist, Biocontrol Section in 2016. His work focused on the host-parasitoid relationship between mealy bug, Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley and endoparasitoid, Aenasius bambawalei Hayat on cotton. Dr R.S. Gill, Professor and Head, Department of Entomology, PAU and other faculty members of the department, congratulated the student and his major advisor for the award winning research. They wished him a great success in future.
