One-day special training programme was organized on “Hand pollination technique in Custard Apple Hybrid Arka Sahan” on 27 April 2019 for the Annona growers and extension personals of Bangalore, Bidar and Dharwad districts of Karnataka; Krishnagiri, Trichy and Madurai districts of Tamil Nadu at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR). The objective of the programme was to impart training on hand pollination technique in custard apple hybrid Arka sahan.
The participants (12) were imparted hands on training on pollen collection, timing of pollination and pollination in Arka sahan. Then, the participants were taught about pruning techniques for synchronization in flowering and crop production and protection techniques for growing arka sahan. Lecture-cum-discussion, trainers-trainees interface, visit to demonstration plots and field visit to nurseries, were the modes employed to impart training to the participants.
All the participants had hands on training in Hand pollination technique in Arka sahan. During valedictory Dr.Riju M Kurian, Head, Division of fruit crops gave Chairman’s remarks and also distributed the certificates to the participants, all the scientist of Fruit crops division were participated.
The trainees were very much satisfied with the programme and opined that have learnt hand pollination technique and new scientific management practices to implement in real farm situation. They wish to take up Arka sahan cultivation in their districts.
