PAU TO HOLD 52nd ANNUAL GROUP MEET OF ALL INDIA COORDINATED PEARL MILLET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
LUDHIANA, APRIL 25:
The Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, will organize the “52nd Annual Group Meet of All India Coordinated Pearl Millet Improvement Project” from April 28-30. About 200 scientists involved in pearl millet research from across different state agricultural universities, ICAR institutions and private sector will participate in this meet. Dr J.S. Sandhu, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, New Delhi, will inaugurate the meet while Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, will preside over it. Dr I.S Solanki, Assistant Director General (FFC), ICAR, New Delhi and Dr Balraj Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Agricultural University, Jodhpur, will grace the occasion as guests of honour.
Dr K.S. Thind, Head, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, said this group meet will focus on review and discussion of various research programmes on pearl millet conducted during previous year. In addition, it will also feature formulation of technical programme for chalking out research experiments on crop improvement, production and protection in pearl millet for the coming season, he added.
