Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has asked officials of the Department of Agriculture to regularly make field visits and empower the farmers with latest technologies to help them double their income.

Speaking at ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi’, a centrally-sponsored scheme aimed at doubling the income of farmers, he said that there was no point in officers staying put in their offices and ascertaining the predicament of farmers.

Despite drought, farmers were able to provide a good yield, he said.

The ruling Congress has been providing several incentives including free power supply to farmers. He also called upon the farmers to shift to precision farming and make Puducherry a hub for organic farming. Agriculture Minister R. Kamalakannan was present.
