DG, ICAR inaugurates the Joint Annual Group Meeting 7th April, 2019, Mau

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) inaugurated the Joint 34thAnnual Group Meeting of AICRP-NSP (Crops), 14th Annual Review Meeting of ICAR-Seed Project & 22nd Annual Breeder Seed Review Meeting here today at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Mau. The Meetings are organized in collaboration with the CCSHAU, Hisar from 7th to 9th April, 2019.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) emphasized on developing a Self-Sustaining Seed System through the channelization of Revolving Fund Scheme that addresses the issues of seed production, processing and storage and affordability of quality seed to the local farmers. The Director General also stressed for taking-up the cutting edge Seed Technology research keeping the global developments in view for making the seed programme more competitive globally. Dr. Mohapatra also chaired the Annual Breeder Seed Review Meeting (ABSRM) and reviewed the status, shortfalls and non-lifting issues in breeder seed production during Rabi 2017 - 18 and Kharif - 2018.

Shri Ashwani Kumar, Joint Secretary (Seeds), DAC & FW, MoA & FW highlighted to deploy effective mechanism for promotion of new varieties in different platforms and need to focus for increasing the export of quality seed.

Dr. D.K. Yadava, ADG (Seed), ICAR, New Delhi outlined the roles played by AICRP-NSP (Crops) and ICAR Seed Project to catalyze the seed production and research in the country.

At the outset, Dr. Dinesh K. Agarwal, Director (Acting), ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Mau applauded the progress made by AICRP-NSP (Crops) and ICAR Seed Project.

The Director of Research; Dean and faculty members of CCSHAU, Hisar and Directors from ICAR Institutes were also present on the occasion.

The joint inaugural session was attended by nearly 170 delegates from various AICRP-NSP (Crops) and ICAR-Seed Project Centres.
