Dg, Icar Delivers Padmasri Dr. Mv Rao Memorial Lecture At Icar-Naarm

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) delivered Padma Shri Dr M.V. Rao Memorial Lecture on “Dream to Destination” at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research & Management, Hyderabad today.  .

Dr T. Mohapatra, in his lecture highlighted the contribution of Dr M.V. Rao in country’s blue revolution and achievements. He said, “The budding scientists should learn from the life of Dr M.V. Rao on how to trade from dream to destination without compromising on both personal front and professional front”. He said the pulse revolution happened due to good planning and execution of planned activities such as seed hubs and pulse procurement.  Climate resilient technologies and interventions of genetic biotechnology are frontier areas to meet the future challenges, he stressed. He urged the young scientists to pursue agricultural research profession with pride and dedication. He advised to have role models who contributed significantly and also contemporary scientists who are committed to the cause.

Dr Mohapatra also participated in ‘Swachta Hi Sewa’  programme and released the Bulletin on “Swachha Bharat Abhiyan”.

Dr J.K. Jena, DDG (Fisheries & Animal Sciences), ICAR; Padma Shri Dr E.A. Siddiq, Former DDG (CS), ICAR; Dr A. Padma Raju, Former Vice Chancellor, ANGRAU; Dr B. Venkateswarlu, Former VC, VNMKV; Dr V. Praveen Rao, VC, PJTSAU; Dr V. Damodar Naidu, VC, ANGRAU also graced the occasion.

Earlier, Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM briefed about Dr M.V. Rao Memorial lecture by Dr T. Mohapatra and contribution of leaders of Indian agriculture - Dr MS Swwaminathan, Dr Chopra, Dr Paroda and other scientists in crop improvement program and food security of the country.

Directors and staff of local ICAR Institutes and Representatives of ICRISAT attended the event.
