Awareness on water harvesting was held at the water harvesting demonstration block. Total Eighty farmers from MGMG villages Seethakempanahalli and Karahalli and FPO members under MYRADA scheme of Kolar district along with staff of Fruit crops division of IIHR attended the programme. Dr. Manjunath.B.L, Principal Scientist, Division of Fruit Crops, explained the gathering about ways and means for waste water recycling and harvesting of excess rain water for protective irrigation of crop during critical periods of crop growth, when dry spells exits. Further another awareness programme on kitchen gardening, kitchen waste management was organised at IIHR Residential colony. Demonstration of kitchen composting using Arka Composter was demonstrated by Dr. Kalaivannan, Scientist, Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry. Awareness on kitchen garden and roof water harvesting were taken by Ms. Sajana, PhD Scholar and Dr. Manjunath. B.L, Principal Scientist, Division of Fruit Crops respectively. Scientific, technical and supporting staffs attended the program.

The staff of IIHR-CHES chettalli promoted kitchen gardens in residential colonies by distributing IIHR vegetable seed kits to the residents of Ponnathmotte village, Somavarpet taluk, Kodagu District, Karnataka state.
