Cultivation Of Jasmine

Thiru. P. Meganathan of N.Pudhupatti of Namakkal district is a progressive flower grower. He is cultivating Ramanathapuram gundu Variety of Jasmine in an area of 50 cents (900 plants/50 cents). In his field yield reduction was observed because the emerging flower buds turned pinkcolour due to Boron deficiency.

Interventions:

After leaf analysis for micro nutrients micro nutrient foliar spray was given.

Process:

Frequent Field visit and underwent training program  on Recent Production techniques in Commercial flower at this Kendra.

Technology :

Three gram borax/liter of water and 1ml Teepol/liter of water is mixed and sprayed through foliar at monthly interval.

Impact:

After the foliar spray of Borax at monthly interval , the incidence of pink bud problem has been minimized.

Horizontal Spread:

The farmers approached Thiru. P. Meganathan for visiting his jasmine field.

Economic gains:

He obtained an yield from 22 kg to 40 kg /50 cents/day and sold the flower at the rate of Rs.70/kg and earned Rs.2800/day
