CHENNAI: With a growing interest in eating right and eating healthy, an increasing number of Chennaiites are heading to farmers’ markets. And now even malls in the city are hosting these events. On April 21 and 22, Phoenix MarketCity will bring together a fresh, wholesome range of handpicked fruits and vegetables in Farmer's Market there.

“For the first time we have partnered with SunnyBee to curate a unique Farmer’s Market at the Courtyard of the mall. It will provide an opportunity for Chennaiites to get a glimpse and shop from the largest variety of farm fresh fruits and vegetables in the city,” said Murugan Rajan, centre director, Phoenix MarketCity Chennai. The proceeds of the sales would go directly to the farmers, he said.

The event will bring together more than 200 farmers and fresh produce from across the country. The produce will include watermelons from Rasipuram, bananas from different parts of India, pomegranates from Nasik, and strawberries from Sri Lanka.

The Farmer’s Market will also introduce patrons to the latest niche farming techniques like hydroponics, microgreens and other organic showcases. For the farmers, it is an opportunity to travel to Chennai and meet their end customers and get direct feedback.

The Farmers Market will be on from 9am to 8pm on April 21 and 22.
