Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar participated in the exhibition organised during "National Workshop on Aquaculture as a livelihood option for tribal farmers of India" at ICAR-Central Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Bhubaneswar, from 18th - 19th February 2019. As chief guest of the inaugural function, His Excellency the Governor of Odisha, Prof. Ganeshi Lal inaugurated the National workshop and exhibition of ICAR institutes. Technologies of CHES, Bhubaneswar and ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru were displayed during the exhibition. Varieties of tomato, brinjal, chili, ivy gourd, aonla, pineapple, sapota and available planting material was main center of attraction. The detailed posters with descriptions of fruit and vegetable production, protection technologies and value added products along with samples of processed products (osmotic dehydrated fruits developed for various fruits by IIHR, Bengaluru) were also displayed. Research and extension activities of CHES and IIHR was briefed by Dr. G.C. Acharya, Head and Principal Scientist, CHES.  The Governer appreciated efforts of CHES, Bhubaneswar and IIHR, Bengaulru for taking up research on diverse range of crops and developed technologies.  He also emphasised the importance of horticultural technologies for livelihood improvement and nutritional security of tribal population of the country. Around 200 participants from 15 states of the country participated in the workshop and visited stall during exhibition. The exhibition was coordinated by Dr. Meenu Kumari, Scientist, with the help of Sri Manoj Pattnaik, Senior Technical Assistant, and Sri. Bulu Moharana, Skilled Supporting Staff of the station.
