Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar participated in the exhibition at Institute of Engineers Campus, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organized by Orissa Krusak Samaj on 25th October, 2018. The programme was organized to commemorate the 60th Foundation Day of Orissa Krushak Samaj and discussion on the theme of World Food Day 2018. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) in the presence of Dr. K. Pradhan (former V.C., OUAT) and Dr. S. Pashupalak, V.C., OUAT, Bhubaneswar. Other guests present were; Director, ICAR-CIWA; Director, ICAR-CIFA; Dean, Siksha O Anusandhan University etc. Around 500 farmers from various parts of Odisha attended the programme. DG, ICAR in his speech highlighted the importance of Doubling Farmers’ Income and emphasized the co-ordination of all departments to achieve the goal. Technologies of CHES, Bhubaneswar and ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru were displayed during the exhibition. Various varieties of guava, aonla, dragon fruit, okra, Yard long bean and underutilized leafy vegetables were main centre of attraction. The detailed posters with descriptions of fruit and vegetable production, protection technologies and value added products along with samples of processed products (osmotic dehydrated fruits developed for various fruits developed by IIHR, Bengaluru) were also displayed. Farmers from various parts of Odisha visited the stall and got acquainted with the feasible horticultural technologies of the institute. The exhibition was coordinated by Dr. Meenu Kumari, Scientist, with the help of Sri A. Das, Technical Assistant, and Sri. H. Bindhani, Skilled Supporting Staff.
