Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SAS Nagar (Mohali) of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana organized “Animal Welfare Camp” at village Sahauran. About 35 farmers took part in this camp. Under the guidance of Dr Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director, K.V.K, Mohali, organized this programme. He motivated farmers for diversification from traditional agricultural cropping system with dairy farming, goat farming, pig farming, poultry farming and proper utilization of resources and maximizing the profit from per unit area. He also advised the farmers to produce quality milk with proper scientific care and management of dairy animals. He briefed regarding various facilities provided by K.V.K and GADVASU, Ludhiana for the farmers. Dr Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor, Livestock Production put the light on the importance of regular deworming of animals because parasitic infections are major constraints for profitable dairy farming. He also stressed on prevention and control procedure of internal as well as external parasitic infection of dairy animals. Dr Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) advised the farmers for utilization of vegetable leftover in dairy farming and to cut down cost of feeding. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S.Nagar provided dewormers (butox for external parasites and panacur tablets for internal parasites) to 13 farmers. Village Numberdar Sh. Ajmer singh supported to organize this events. Farmers thanked KVK faculty for organizing such an excellent and interactive mode of animal welfare camp.
