Globally, there is an increasing trend on application of remote sensing,Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS)technologies in mapping and management of land resource, particularly in thefield of agriculture. These technologies have revolutionized the land resourceinventory, mapping and enable us to generate geospatial databases on a regularbasis for better planning, management, monitoring of land resources moreefficiently at various scales. The ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and LandUse Planning under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Govt. of India wasestablished in 1976 with its headquarters at Nagpur. The Bureau is engaged in soilsurvey and preparation of soil based thematic databases and maps at various scalesthrough field surveys, soil analysis, cartography and mapping by adoptingsophisticated remote sensing, GPS and GIS technologies. The ICAR sponsoredShort Course on “Advance Remote Sensing, GIS and Spatial Modeling in LandResource Mapping and Management” is being organized by Division of RemoteSensing Application at ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Nagpur during 01-10 August, 2018.
